FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How far apart should I space the shelves?
For an average adult cat, 30–40 cm between shelf heights is comfortable. For kittens or older cats, closer spacing (20–25 cm) makes the climb more accessible. The installation guide includes both layouts.
Are the hanging play balls replaceable?
Yes. They attach via standard elastic cord and can be replaced with any similarly sized cat toy ball if they wear out. Most pet shops stock compatible replacements.
Is this suitable as a standalone system or should I pair it with a floor tree?
Ascend works as a standalone system for active cats. Pairing it with a floor-standing tree or a tall scratching post below the lowest shelf gives your cat a launch point and creates a complete circuit - something our customers with particularly energetic cats love to do. You can have a look at our cat trees collections.
Can it go in a narrow hallway?
Yes, provided the hallway is at least 60 cm wide. The shelves are 40 cm deep, which leaves adequate clearance for passing. A hallway install also gives your cat a dedicated climbing zone that does not encroach on your main living space at all.
How do I stop the shelves from wobbling once mounted?
Ensure each screw is fully tightened and - where possible - driven into a stud. If using plasterboard anchors, use all the provided fixings per shelf rather than the minimum. A quick pull test on each shelf before your cat uses it is always a good precaution.
